JAMMU, Aug 30: BJP spokesperson Rajni Sethi today alleged that the recent flood situation in Jammu division has once again exposed the inefficiency, negligence and lack of preparedness of the NC-led Government.
In a statement issued here today she said “For the last many days, the people of Jammu have been suffering due to the devastating floods in Tawi river, Chenab river and adjoining areas. The destruction caused by these floods has been widespread – villages are submerged, roads washed away, houses damaged, and agricultural land ruined,. Yet, the Government remains a silent spectator, failing to provide any timely relief or rehabilitation measures,” she added.
Sethi said the situation in Jammu division is extremely alarming. “From the last five days, there is no water supply, no electricity, no road connectivity, and absolutely no health care facilities for the people who have been left stranded. Victim families are crying for help but the Government machinery has remained inactive. No washrooms, no food distribution camps, no medical teams, and no rehabilitation process can be seen on the ground. This is not just administrative failure; this is criminal negligence where the lives of common citizens have been put at risk”, she added.
“What makes the situation worse is the total silence of the ruling NC Government. Instead of working on war-footing to rescue people, provide basic facilities, and ensure rehabilitation of affected families, the Government is behaving as if nothing has happened. It is unfortunate that while the people of Jammu division are fighting for survival, the ministers and officials of the Government remain in a sleeping mode”, she said.
