SRINAGAR, Aug 27: The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has arrested three Power Development Department (PDD) employees, including a Junior Engineer (JE), for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000.

An ACB official said the action against Mohammad Irfan Ganaie, Junior Engineer (JE) of Kamrazipora, Pulwama, and two other employees, identified as Abid Hussain Wani (Lineman) and Sajad Ahmad Mir (PDL), both residents of Pakherpora, Charar-i-Sharief, Budgam, was taken on the basis of a written complaint, alleging demand of illegal payment for relocation of a high-tension line running adjacent to the complainant’s house.
He said the matter was verified discreetly by a designated ACB officer, and based on the findings, a prima facie case under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (Amended 2018), read with section 61(2) BNS, was established.
Following the verification, he said, a trap team was deployed in Pakherpora, Charar-i-Sharief, where three employees were caught red-handed while demanding and accepting the bribe.
According to him, the case, registered under FIR number 17/2025 at Police Station ACB Srinagar, is under further investigation.
