JAMMU, Aug 27: The immovable migrant properties left over in Kashmir by displaced Pandits after their forceful exodus in 1990 still continue to be in illegal occupation of land mafia that has been active in Valley after the mass exodus of Pandits.
The KPs alleged that no serious tangible steps in this direction have been taken by the custodians to retrieve or restore the illegally occupied land of Kashmir Pandits under immovable Property Act, 1997 in totality so far.
Vinod Pandita and Sanjay Dhar KP leaders and social activists in a joint statement have raised concern and anguish on the way this Immovable Migrant Property Act 1997 has been made defunct deliberately and no action is being taken on the migrant land grievances at any end right from district up to tehsil level with a well thought out planning and mind set.
Both the leaders have expressed great resentment and concern that countless Kashmiri Pandits are running from pillar to post in Valley and particularly in distinct Anantnag in revenue offices right from the DC office to Tehsil level for want of settlement of their land issues but it is very unfortunate that under well thought out plan, they return with empty hands at every end with only lip services.
They further raised grave concern over the behaviour of the some revenue officers on the migrant land issues and said that it seems that they are working on a particular agenda in which they never address their issues seriously but only delaying tactics are being adopted everywhere especially on migrant grievances, which needs to enquired thoroughly. .
Dhar and Pandita said there are ample migrant cases which are not being deliberately disposed off and there is no accountability at any end regarding migrant land grabbing issues seriously.
They have appealed Home Minister and Lt. Governor to direct the concerned DCs to address the migrant cases on priority and appealed for setting up their accountability for tangible results forthwith.
