Old Age Home Jammu reviews welfare measures for inmates

JAMMU, Aug 27: The managing committee of the Home for the Aged & Infirm (Old Age Home), Jammu, held a meeting under the chairmanship of I D Soni, president, to review ongoing activities and plan new initiatives aimed at improving facilities for its residents.
The meeting was attended by vice president H S Manhas, joint secretary Vijay Gupta, committee members Sat Pal Sharma and R C Vaid, besides other dignitaries.
At the outset of the meeting, the President placed important agenda points before the House for discussion. Dr Dinesh Gupta, honorary secretary, shared the progress made during the month and informed that ten new Life Members had been enrolled. He also announced that the Physiotherapy Unit is being re-started and a Dispensary Facility is being set up, with both expected to become functional by September 15.
The Committee also discussed various proposals to upgrade infrastructure, including the installation of a Generator Set, provision of two lifts, and the procurement of a Mobility Van for inmates. Members were informed that work on these proposals is already in progress.
To enhance security and monitoring of inmates as well as visitors, the Committee unanimously decided to advertise the post of a Chowkidar (Watchman). At the same time, directions were issued for shopkeepers to clear their pending rent arrears without further delay.
The meeting also included an interaction session with the inmates, during which residents were reminded about the rules, code of conduct, and discipline to be observed during their stay. Their cooperation was sought to further improve services and living conditions within the Home.
The proceedings concluded with a vote of thanks to the Chair. Members reaffirmed their commitment to provide a caring environment for the elderly residents and to keep strengthening the facilities and welfare measures at the Old Age Home.
