RAMBAN, July 29: Ramban Police has arrested an absconder who had been evading arrest for the past 15 years.
Police sources said that on the directions of SSP Ramban, a team from Police Station Ramban apprehended Abdul Rashid, son of Mohd Yaqoob, a resident of Kansi Pata, tehsil and district Reasi. He was wanted in a case FIR Number 143/2009 registered under Section 188 of the RPC, Section 11 of the PC Act, and multiple sections of the Motor Vehicles Act.
A general arrest warrant under Section 512 of the CrPC had been issued against him by the Court. Despite remaining at large for over a decade and a half to dodge legal proceedings, Rashid was finally arrested following sustained efforts by the police team.
The accused will be produced before the concerned court for further legal action.
