JAMMU, Jul 27: Jammu and Kashmir Police have registered a case against a shopkeeper in R.S Pura for allegedly selling banned Chinese nylon thread, commonly known as Gattu or Chinese manja.
A police team from Police Station R.S Pura, led by PSI Abid Bashir raided a shop in the local market and seized nine rolls of the hazardous thread, a police official said.
He said the accused selling the banned thread has been identified as Raman Kumar of Ward Number 6, R.S Pura.
“He was found in possession of the synthetic thread, which is prohibited in Jammu district due to its dangerous nature and past involvement in injuries and fatalities,” the police official said.
According to him, an FIR under the relevant sections of the law has been registered against the accused and further investigation is underway.
