Inter-state fraudster arrested for pilfering gold from ornaments

UDHAMPUR, July 15: Acting swiftly, Police arrested an inter-state fraudster who duped women by pilfering gold from their ornaments by pretending to clean the same.
Police Station Majalta received a complaint from Bandana Rajput of Majalta, stating that an unknown person posing as a gas stove repairman duped her by offering to clean her gold ornaments using chemicals, causing loss in weight.
During the course of investigation, the team of Police Station Majalta, led by SHO, Sohan Singh arrested the accused namely Subodh Sah of Bhagalpur Bihar within 24 hours.
Investigation revealed his modus operandi involved extracting gold content by dissolving it chemically while pretending to clean it causing loss in weight and secretly extracting the dissolved gold for himself.
He is suspected to be part of an inter-state gang and further investigation is underway. Udhampur Police has advised the general public to remain vigilant and immediately report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
