BUDGAM, July 12: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has trapped and arrested a Patwari posted at Humchipora Halqa in Budgam district while accepting a bribe of Rs 2,000 from a complainant.

As per an ACB official, the accused, identified as Tahir Jan Malla, a resident of Sebdan Budgam, was caught red-handed while demanding and receiving the bribe amount for processing mutation of land at Alamnaag Khag through the online system.
According to him, the complainant had alleged that Malla was demanding Rs 2,000 each for two sale deeds and approached ACB seeking legal action.
Following a discreet verification, he said, the ACB found the allegation to be credible and registered an FIR number 14/2025 under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 at Police Station ACB Srinagar.
Accordingly, a trap was laid by a team, leading to the arrest of the accused, he said.
After completing medico-legal formalities, the ACB official said Malla was taken into custody.
Meanwhile, further investigation is underway.
