RAJOURI, June 25: The annual Urs of the Sufi saint, Hazrat Syed Fateh Ali Shah (RA), was observed with immense devotion and religious fervour at the historic shrine, located at Rellan Syedan, near the Line of Control (LoC) in District Rajouri.
The shrine, believed to be more than three centuries old, holds deep spiritual significance in the Pir Panjal region and continues to attract devotees from across Jammu & Kashmir and adjoining areas.
On this spiritually enriching occasion, hundreds of devotees belonging to various faiths and backgrounds visited the shrine to offer prayers, pay homage, and seek blessings. The event showcased the rich cultural and spiritual heritage of the region, rooted in the teachings of Hazrat Syed Fateh Ali Shah, who is remembered for his message of peace, unity, love, and spiritual awakening.
The day-long celebration included recitations of the Holy Quran, soulful Naats, special prayers, and spiritual music (Sama’) sessions, creating an atmosphere of divine serenity and reflection. The shrine was beautifully decorated, and Langar (community lunch) were served to all visitors as a gesture of communal harmony and service.
The Urs was organized under the dedicated leadership of Alhaj Syed Zakir Hussain Shah, head of the Urs Committee, who personally oversaw all arrangements and expressed heartfelt gratitude to the local administration, volunteers, and security personnel for their support in ensuring a peaceful and well-organized event.
Brig HS Dhillon, Commander 6 Sector RR (Potha), also attended the event and respectfully offered a Chadar at the shrine, symbolizing the enduring bond of respect between the security forces and the local spiritual traditions.
Prominent educationist and Retired Principal Mussaraf Hussain Shah, while addressing the gathering, emphasized the relevance of Hazrat Fateh Ali Shah’s teachings in contemporary times. He said that in today’s world of social unrest and rising divisions, it is essential to draw inspiration from saints like Syed Fateh Shah.
