KATHUA, July 4: The people of Kathua have appealed the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi for setting up of a Railway sleeper manufacturing factory at Kathua as was announced during the inauguration of Jammu-Udhampur rail link by then Railway Minister, Lalu Prasad Yadav.
The appeal was made by Sunil Gupta member, Kathua Bar Association and Naresh Sharma a Congress leader. They said the construction of sleeper factory at Kathua is a long pending demand of the people of the district which can help in eradication of unemployment.
They also demanded construction of 280 mw Ujh -Panjtirthi Power Project as has been announced by then Union Water Resource Minister, Prof Saif -ud-Din Soz. The project will not only help in power generation to over come power crisis in the State but also help in employment generation and thousands of the youth of the area will get a job there.
They also demanded construction of Railway link from Kathua to Kishtwar via Basohli and Bani the survey of which was conducted earlier.
