JAMMU, June 3: Ahead of the upcoming monsoon season, Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) here today started next phase of de-silting work to clean drains and nallahs across all of its 75 Wards.
The first phase of de-silting drive began on March 15, 2025 and it will continue till June 20, 2025 to ensure that potential damage from the season’s first rainfall is minimized.
A handout stated that special focus is being placed on vulnerable and low-lying areas throughout Jammu region.
There are over 140 nallahs and 105 deep drains in JMC Zones I, II and III, requiring regular cleaning throughout the year. These nallahs extend up to 250 km in length, while the deep drains cover an additional 600 km.

De-silting work is progressing on schedule and is being carried out on a war footing. A dedicated supervisor is deployed at each site to oversee day-to-day activities, ensuring quality and timely completion.
