‘Political ceasefire’ urgently needed

Shiban Khaibri
Absolutely cheap political claptrap in the country against the very successful “Operation Sindoor” needs to stop , now, since it seems to be crossing limits where a thin line of patriotism and disloyalty can be drawn. Not in any lighter vein , after the ceasefire or a ”pause” between India and Pakistan on latter’s beseeching in respect of the recent military operation by India against terror havens in Pakistan , a political ceasefire needs to be observed. Analyse all of such rhetoric, narrative and conjectures making rounds across the country regarding the Operation Sindoor especially by the Congress Party, it comes down straight to the archaic obsession of ‘vote’ and vote only . Prospects of 2029 of returning to power , perhaps , seem to them as extremely remote since the popularity of Narendra Modi as a strong and visionary leader was bound to surge to new heights due to how efficiently was massacre of innocent tourists at Pahalgham by Pakistan sponsored armed terrorists avenged , for the first time, unlike in respect of series of terror attacks in the past. It is , however, quite shocking that such an inference could be deduced by some opposition leaders out of such a spine chilling terror attack where unarmed innocent Hindu males were butchered just in front of their dear ones rendering families devastated with irreparable losses.
Was, therefore, extremely required and ably executed Operation Sindoor, whereby Pakistan saw a new , vibrant , inviolable and politically strong willed India saying “enough was enough” as we could afford not to bleed anymore , not even in least, on account of a long drawn undeclared proxy war of terrorism by Pakistan, fated to be trivialised, mocked and doubts spread by some opposition leaders about its success which otherwise is envied by almost all the countries? The marvellous , heroic and absolutely professional performance of our armed forces with precision, has yet again confirmed that our armed forces are second to none in the world. The grateful nation is proud of them . However, the top political leadership of the country also deserves accolades in taking strong timely decisions and fully empowering the forces which we never saw before , say for more than two decades of series of terror attacks in our country. The same brave , highly professional and lion hearted armed forces were fully prepared like always in 2008 too, when Mumbai was attacked killing 166 and wounding 300 besides causing loss of properties worth hundreds of crores of Rupees. They could not act because political leadership did not act being weak, indecisive and feeble . Hence both are extremely important .
It is the political leadership that has to take the initiative and a strong and timely action. Needless to add , talking about Mumbai only during the period 1993 to 2011, as many as 710 civilian fatalities and 2393 injuries took place in terror attacks – the worst 13 blasts on March 12, 1993 killing 257 and injuring 713 followed by in July 2006 – claiming 181 and injuring 890 , yet on November 26, 2008 killing 166 and injuring 300 but never was any military action taken against terrorists in Pakistan like Balakote and Operation Sindoor. In other words , a non performer cannot criticise , mock and just trivialise a good performer, if not a best one.
It is , therefore, really unfortunate that lot of ”hard work” is being done to research and even invent ”errors” , goofs and mistakes allegedly committed by the present dispensation in handling post April 22 massacre of tourists at Pahalgam vis-a-vis the Operation Sindoor. Why and what for is not that hard to comprehend. Kharge Ji, the Congress President calls the military operation as “Chutt putt ghatna”. With which measure on record with Congress governments in such cases , the operation can be branded as “Chutt Putt”? He even charges PM Modi of having been given inputs by the intelligence agencies about a possible terror attack at Pahalgam due to which he “cancelled” his Kashmir visit but did not act to save the tourists.” This is a very serious charge , really very serious, which must be proven beyond any doubt to reach to its logical ends so that accountability is fixed or the consequences of spreading falsehood must be squarely faced . We know that, perhaps, nothing will be done in this sensitive issue , proving or disproving , and we, the ordinary countrymen , are thus bound to be kept in the dark , if not taken for a ride even in such a grave and most sensitive issue where country’s security is involved.
On the other hand , Rahul Gandhi is very much interested in knowing as to “how many fighter jets we lost” even after the defence authorities very authoritatively giving details on daily basis during the entire operation. When official statements from the Defence Forces are doubted , how simultaneously it is said that “we trust in and praise our forces”. A Congress spokesman objects to naming the operation as Sindoor as in his opinion, “Sindoor pertains to a vishesh samudai”. See the priority as well as the hate factor. This very spokesman says, ”Not knowing whether Shashi Tharoor belongs to Congress or the BJP .” His inclusion in the All Party Delegation is , therefore, disliked by the Congress leadership because Tharoor praised the country leadership and its global outreach. He conscientiously hailed the Operation Sindoor and the Prime Minister and, therefore, was objected to being on a delegation from the Congress party going to different countries explaining India’s viewpoint as a diplomatic exercise exposing Pakistan in promoting and manufacturing terrorism. A leader from UP claims , “Not a single terrorist was killed in Pakistan”. He further laments over the “entire exercise ending in a fiasco just within 24 hours”. Another one from Congress asks whether Pahalgam attack terrorists were “caught” or killed . Not blaming Pakistan, these leaders only point out to “security failure” at Pahalgam.
However, P. Chidambaram, a senior Congress leader commended Prime Minister Modi for his “measured and strategic response” to the Pahalgam terror attack. He praised PM’s “restraint and thoughtful handling” of the crisis as also “government’s careful approach”.
Again, another Congress leader from Maharashtra, Vijay Wadettiwar mocking Operation Sindhoor and armed forces questions the very rationale of using missiles each costing Rs.15 lakh to intercept Pakistani drones costing Rs.15000 each. What an ”intellectual ” piece of Accountancy. Mocking our armed forces, back to back, he further asks whether four or five Rafale jets too were lost by us . Pakistan has been upping its propaganda mission to save its bruised and smeared face by spreading such lies even though there are no takers for such lies in Pakistan but here in India Congress leaders are trying to prove Pakistan right by asking “how many fighter jets we lost”. It is therefore quite feasible for the government to recruit Wadettiwar in the Army to suggest how enemy drones could be downed with Indian devices of equal costs . Earlier, immediately after the Pahalgam massacre, this Congress leader had debunked the statements of the families of the victims that the killers ascertained the faith of each victim before shooting them by saying, “Do terrorists have time to ask for all this …” See the intention.
Another leader from Kashmir is too frugal to give just zero marks to the Operation Sindoor, building the premise on hypothecations and assumptions, not known why? If some political leaders question, “What have we achieved from the Operation Sindoor, ” it is preposterous and smells of going beyond the main objective for settling political scores.
Demand for a special session of Parliament , it seems, is not on account of an unease and patriotic impatience to know more about the achievements of the operation but to corner, question, ridicule, undermine , accuse, allege and defame the government by using all such irrelevant but intentional ”queries” so that India’s gaining supremacy in military power gets covered under a haze. Desi or indigenous dominance in the skies by displaying Drone power , India made , Aakash missile , Brahmos missile and other “Make in India” products not only destroyed terror camps in 22 minutes but rendered 11 airbases of Pakistan to craters and deep ditches .
”Why ceasefire ” is a new narrative of some opposition parties . Why External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar allegedly “informed in advance” Pakistan about the strike is equally as stupid as it is about why ceasefire. Clarifications need not be given as hardly these are needed because somehow the “pot has to be kept boiling ” till 2029 elections otherwise why and what for our valiant forces were said to have been ”thrashed ” by Chinese troops at Arunachal Pradesh by Congress. India wins big as we never wanted a war , but only to breaking the spine of terrorists . The grand conspiracy of involving India in war or a long drawn conflict is only to wreak a blow to the “fastest growing economy of the world” . We cannot fall into any trap where our process of economic development gets impeded or halted. The policy , however, remains impregnable – “cannonball for a bullet “– when it comes to our security, territorial integrity and sovereignty .
