KATHUA, May 6: Dr Manohar Lal Sharma, former Minister and senior Congress leader, today concluded two-day tour of Billawar constituency, where he engaged with locals and listened to their grievances.
Amidst the tense border situation between India and Pakistan, Dr Sharma’s visit underscored the Congress party’s commitment to addressing the pressing issues faced by the people of Jammu and Kashmir. During his tour, Dr Sharma was apprised of the severe water and power crisis plaguing the region. Locals complained about frequent power outages, inadequate water supply, and exorbitant power bills. Sharma expressed deep concern over these issues, emphasizing the need for immediate attention from the authorities.
The senior Congress leader was particularly distressed by the enhanced power bills, which have become a significant burden on the people of Billawar. He demanded that the Government take concrete steps to reduce power tariffs and provide relief to the common man. Unemployment emerged as another major concern during Dr Sharma’s interactions with the locals. The lack of job opportunities and inadequate government initiatives to promote entrepreneurship and skill development were highlighted as pressing issues that need to be addressed.
Sharma reiterated the Congress party’s commitment to the people of Jammu and Kashmir, particularly in times of crisis. He emphasized that the party will continue to raise the voices of the marginalized and work towards finding solutions to their problems. Despite the tense situation on the borders between India and Pakistan, Sharma’s visit demonstrated the Congress party’s focus on the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He urged the Government to prioritize the needs of the people and ensure their safety and security.
