Kathua police attaches property of narcotic smuggler

KATHUA, Apr 20: Continuing its firm action against drug peddlers/smugglers, Kathua police has attached movable / immovable property worth 14.58 lakh of a kingpin of narcotics smuggling in Ramkote area.
Police said the attachment was made under Sections 68 A.2 (c),& E read with 68-F of the NDPS Act of 1985, dealing with provisions for attachment of properties of drug peddlers/smugglers.
The attachment of movable and immovable property was executed by Police Station (PS) Billawar, resulting in the freezing / seizure of scooty bearing Registration Number, JK08M-4244 worth rupees 80 thousand approximately and immovable property Double storey building worth Rs. 13.78 lakh owned by drug Kingpin namely Rahul alias Rotu, son of Balbir Singh of Ward No.4 tehsil Ramkot, district Kathua.
Police said the action was taken by police team headed by SHO PS Billawar, Inspector, Zaheer Mushtaq who was assisted by in charge PP, Ramkot, Ranbheer Singh under the supervision of SDPO Billawar, Neeraj Padyar and over all supervision of SSP Kathua, Shobit Saksena.
Police said the drug Kingpin Rahul is presently in judicial custody in case FIR No. 69/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29/ NDPS Act of Police Station Billawar and is also involved in multiple cases registered under NDPS Act at PS Billawar district Kathua which included FIR No. 69/2023 U/S 8/21/22/29/ NDPS Act and FIR No 170/2024, U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act of PS Billawar.
Police said the Immovable property (double storey building )and moveable property (scooty Activa) was identified as illegally acquired property during the course of investigation/ inquiry conducted by the police with the help of transport and Revenue Department. The properties were prima facie acquired from illicit trafficking in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances by the drug peddler, police added.
