UDHAMPUR, Apr 11: Pawan Khajuria, a senior leader from Udhampur today expressed dismay over the failure of the Government in settling the long standing issues of the people.
Addressing a meeting of political and social activists including ex-Sarpanches and Naib Sarpanches, Pawan Khajuria said that the people of J&K had many expectations with the democratically elected Government as the elections in the UT were held after a gap of 10 years. He said the people heaved a sigh of relief after the election of People’s Government in the UT that their long standing problems would be solved but to their dismay nothing has been done in last six months.
Khajuria said though people had pinned high hopes in the Government, the way it is working they have lost the faith as there is no solution in sight to their long standing problems.
Khajuria said the price rise, unemployment, problems of daily wagers demanding regularisation, ban on illegal mining, drug trafficking and bovine smuggling are the concerns of common man and Government failed to take any initiative in this regard till date.
Khajuria resolved to work for the people’s rights, fostering intercommunity bonds, rights of daily wagers, unemployed youth and all other sections of society.
The meeting was attended by DDC member Majalta, Amit Sharma, Raj Kumar Bucha, Sushil Sethi, senior leaders, Som Raj Sharma and Rakesh Gupta, Swaran Singh ex Sarpanch, Rajesh Sharma, Sansar Singh, Hans Raj, Babu Ram and others.
Khajuria asked the activists to visit their respective areas and take stock of people’s problems and highlight them before concerned quarters.
