Six family members of an Over Ground Worker (OGW) Mohammad Latief, who is already in jail under Public Safety Act (PSA) for helping the terrorists at Malhar in Billawar area during attack on Army truck last year, have been detained by police for questioning in connection with gun battle at village Safiyan Jakhole in Ghati area of Kathua district.
Sources said family members of Mohammad Latief son of Mir Mohammad, were detained by the SOG and shifted to Police Post Jakhole under the jurisdiction of Rajbagh police station for questioning,
It, however, is yet to be ascertained whether the group of five terrorists got local support or not after their infiltration from the border.
Meanwhile, three terrorists reportedly entered the house of one Shankar Lal at Rui, Jathana near Jakhole around 8 pm today and sought food. While Shankar managed to escape, his wife declined to give any food to them. However, they forcibly took some food available in the house and escaped.
“The facts are being investigated,” police said, adding search teams have been sent to Jathana.
As per the woman, out of three terrorists, one was injured while two others were alright. They warned the woman not to inform anyone about their movement.
The suspects escaped towards surrounding forests.
The family informed police and their area was cordoned off.
