JAMMU, Feb 24: In a swift and coordinated operation, Jammu Police apprehended two wanted criminals and recovered illegal arms and ammunition during a surprise naka (checkpoint) on Ring Road in the Miran Sahib area. The operation was conducted following a shooting incident at Swarn Palace, Miran Sahib, during a function on Sunday.
According to police sources, three criminals-Rajat Raina alias Rishu, son of Pritam Lal Sharma of Haramkund Flour, Tehsil Marh; Raghunandan Kesar alias Raghu, son of late Ganesh Lal Sharma of Marh and an accomplice identified as Goura Jatt-opened fire at the venue before fleeing the scene. Upon receiving credible information, Police Station Miran Sahib registered FIR Number 27/2025 under Sections 109/3(5) of the BNS and 3/25 of the Arms Act, launching an immediate investigation.
A police team, led by SHO Miran Sahib Inspector Jaipaul Sharma and operating under the supervision of SDPO RS Pura and SP Headquarters Jammu, swiftly established a surprise naka on Ring Road. Within hours of the incident, the team intercepted a Thar vehicle (Registration Number JK02DA-2525) and successfully apprehended two of the accused, Rajat Raina and Raghunandan Kesar. The third suspect, Goura Jatt, remains at large, and efforts to track him down are ongoing.
Upon their arrest, authorities recovered two pistols, three live rounds, and one empty shell from the suspects. The Thar vehicle used in their escape was also seized as part of the investigation.
The detained individuals are currently undergoing interrogation to determine their involvement in previous criminal activities and any potential links to organized gangs. Police have assured that further investigations are in progress to bring all culprits to justice.
