SAMBA, Feb 15: A special Lok Adalat organized for the Law students of Dogra Law College (DLC) by the District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) was held here today.
The Lok Adalat was held under the directions of Justice Tashi Rabstan, Chief Justice of the Common High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh as during his interaction programme with the students, of the Dogra Law College, in the month of December 2024.
On that occasion, the Chief Justice has directed the DLSA Samba to organise a special Lok Adalat for the Law students, so that the students will get firsthand knowledge about the organization of Lok Adalat.
The Special Lok Adalat today was inaugurated by R N Wattal, Pr District & Sessions Judge (also Chairman District Legal Services Authority, Samba) and the Chairman DLSA Samba.
They awared the students about the importance of Lok Adalat and other methods of Alternate Dispute Resolution mechanisms.
Three benches were constituted for settling the cases referred (Pre and Post Litigation), Bench No.1 comprised of R N Wattal and Arvind Sharma, Addl District & Sessions Judge, Samba.
Bench No.2 comprised of Umesh Sharma, Chief Judicial Magistrate Samba and Himani Parihar, Munsiff(JMIC) and bench No. 3 comprised of Rashi Verma, Addl Spl Mobile Magistrate, Samba and Kritika Sethi, Addl Munsiff, Samba.
The matters placed before the benches included Civil, Criminal Compoundable, Cheque Bounce, Bank Recovery matters, MACT, Matrimonial, Pre-litigation matters, D V Act, Negotiable Instrument Act, 125Cr Pc and Petty Offences including traffic challans.
A total number of 96 cases were taken up for their amicable settlement out of which 33 cases were settled and an amount of Rs 856693 was realized as settlement amount.
The proceedings were conducted by Sandeep Sen, Secretary DLSA Samba.
