JAMMU, Jan 12: A daylong workshop for senior Congress leaders, including newly elected MLAs, former Ministers, and party candidates from Jammu and Kashmir, was held today in Jammu.
The workshop focused on revamping and strengthening the Congress organization at the grassroots level through assembly-wise mass contact programs throughout the year.
AICC Incharge for Jammu and Kashmir, Bharatsinh Solanki, was the Chief Guest at the event, while JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra presided over the proceedings.
Prominent leaders including AICC General Secretary and CLP leader GA Mir, along with AICC Secretaries Manoj Yadav, Shah Nawaz Chaudhary, and Neeraj Kundan, also participated in the discussions.
In his address, Bharatsinh Solanki declared 2025 as the “year of organization” for the Congress, emphasizing the importance of rebuilding the party structure at all levels.
He urged leaders to address organizational shortcomings to ensure readiness for future elections.
Solanki appreciated Karra’s efforts to engage with grassroots workers after the recent elections, gathering valuable feedback for strengthening the party.
He also reaffirmed Congress’ critical role in Jammu and Kashmir, citing its secular ideology as a counter to BJP’s divisive politics.
Solanki noted the positive impact of Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Yatra, particularly in Kashmir, which had influenced recent election outcomes.
In his welcome address, Karra reflected on the challenges facing the party and emphasized the need to strengthen the organization.
He reminded attendees of Congress’ significant contributions to Jammu and Kashmir, particularly during the UPA Government led by Dr Manmohan Singh, with major initiatives in power, railway, and road connectivity.
Karra highlighted that many ongoing projects, inaugurated by the current Government, were originally initiated under the previous Congress-led Government but had faced delays under BJP leadership.
Karra also discussed the ongoing struggle for statehood and the restoration of governance rights for Jammu and Kashmir, urging party workers to prepare for continued efforts to address the needs of the people, particularly the youth.
AICC General Secretary G A Mir praised the workshop’s initiatives and reiterated Congress’ commitment to its unifying ideology, which he argued was crucial for the future of Jammu and Kashmir.
He called on Congress cadres to remain vigilant and ready for the political battles ahead, especially in confronting BJP’s divisive policies.
