CB traces 2 more beneficiaries

SRINAGAR, May 19: The Crime Branch of Jammu and Kashmir Police has found two more beneficiaries of the Board of Professional Entrance Examination’s (BOPEE) Common Entrance Test  (CET-2012) who sought admission in MBBS course fraudulently, taking the number of beneficiaries to 25.
The investigating agency has traced out 4 more accused involved in the scam. Among 4 accused persons 2 are candidates who have obtained the CET-2012 papers illegally and deceitfully and were selected for MBBS course. They have been Umar Manzoor Sheikh and Hina Salim Mir and two more persons who have been arrested are Mohammad Salim Mir and Naresh Pandita.
The court was hearing a Public Interest regarding leakage of 2013-CET Chemistry Paper held in June last year in which court has taken suo moto proceeding after the leakage of question papers surfaced.
Superintendant of Police Crime Branch Kashmir in his status report told the Division Bench of High Court Comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice MH Attar that two accused Salim Mir and Naresh Pandita were arrested on March 25 and are in judicial custody on remand.
The CB status report says that the total number of beneficiaries who sought admission fraudulently has gone upto 25. The accused persons including parents of  the beneficiaries who have been arrested so far are 22 while others are evading arrest.
The Crime Branch is investigating the case to find out more beneficiaries of the scam who have sought admission in the MBBS course.
The amicus curie and senior Advocate of Jammu and Kashmir High Court Bashir Ahmad Bashir raised objections that why two Divisional Forest Statistical Assistants have not been arrested. They according to CBK are absconding and have failed to present themselves before the Crime Branch.
Court was also apprised that attachment of property against 7 persons in terms of trial court order have been delivered to the concerned revenue authorities for further action. “However, attachment against 9 beneficiary candidates could not be initiated for lack of any property details. Moreover property details of one more accused person, Altaf Hussain Shah, have been received and the trial court has been requested to initiate attachment process under section 88 of CrPC against him”, reads the status report.
The court after perusal of status report and after hearing the amicus curie and Advocate General M I Qadri who is appearing for State deffered the hearing of matter till Friday and directed the listing of the matter on Friday in a Special Division Bench.
