KATHUA, Dec 20: In order to tighten its noose on bovine smugglers under the operation Kamdhenu, Kathua police has slapped a PSA on a hardcore bovine smuggler and criminal and lodged him in district Jail Udhampur.
Police said a case FIR No. 161/2024 U/S 223/BNS 11PCA act against hardcore bovine smuggler Sewa Singh, son of Gowher Singh of Dhanah Chullas Tehsil Bhaghwah district Doda has been registered in the Police Station, Hiranagar.
Police said while checking the previous record of the accused it was found that eight cases were registered at different Police Stations against him. All the case details have been collected from the concerned police station by police. As the accused is “habitual offender” and has not changed his behaviour despite a number of FIRs being registered against him, so on the directives of the senior officer, a dossier of Sewa Singh was prepared and sent it to higher ups for detaining him under Public Safety Act (PSA) in order to maintain public peace and order which is likely to be disturbed due to his nefarious activities, police said.
In this connection order issued by the District Magistrate (DM) Kathua against the Sewa Singh, son of Gowher Singh of Dhanah Chullas, tehsil Bhagwah district Doda under Public Safety Act (PSA) 1978 vide order No.PSA/133 dated 18/12/2024 was executed. The criminal was arrested by a team from PS Hiranagar headed by Inspector, Arun Koul along with police party arrested the Sewa Singh and lodged him in District Jail Udhampur.
The overall drive was made under the command of Inspector, Arun Koul SHO, Hiranagar under the guidance of Dheeraj Katoch SDPO Border with the overall supervision of SSP Kathua, Shobhit Saksena.
