EDB organizes Kissan Mela

UDHAMPUR, July 6: Ellaquai Dehati Bank (EDB) organised a Kissan Mela here today in which a large number of farmers from far and near participated.
Speaking on the occasion, chief guest, District Development Commissioner, PK Pole, said that the banks of the area should come out with a special scheme for sericulture, as there is a vast scope for cocoon rearing. He also laid stress for providing banking services to rural areas.
Earlier welcoming the chief guest and other dignitaries, Chairman of the Bank, AK Razdan highlighted the role played by the bank in the economic development and employment generation of the State.
“The Bank has a number of schemes for the unemployed youth and they should take benefit from the tailor made schemes of the bank to earn their livelihood.
Razdan further said that the bank has taken a lead in providing agriculture production finance in a number of districts in the State and thousands of Kissan credit cards have been issued by the Bank.
He said the Bank’s CD ratio is hovering around 50 percent, which speaks volumes about the tireless work carried out by the Bank for raising the economic standards of the farmers.
The Chairman informed that the bank is going to open 15 new business units in the current financial year to bring unbanked into financial inclusion.
DDM NABARD, Shri Manohar, Lead Development Manager, KK Sadhotra, NGO coordinator, Om Prakash Sharma and, General Manager, SA Qureshi also spoke on the occasion.
