JAMMU, Nov 22: The Crime Branch Jammu has arrested two individuals who allegedly created fake Permanent Resident Certificates (PRCs) in order to illegally claim migration relief from the Government.

A Crime Branch official said that after their arrests, the accused individuals identified as Manpreet Singh of Dardapora, Baramulla at present Raipur Satwari, Jammu, and Surjeet Singh of Tral, Kashmir at present Belicharana, Jammu, were produced before the Special Mobile Magistrate (Electricity) Jammu and later on the orders of the court, they were sent to District Jail Ambphala, Jammu.
According to him, a case against the duo was registered at the Police Station Crime Branch Jammu after the Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M) Jammu filed a complaint regarding the creation of fake PRCs.
Quoting the complaint filed by Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (M), he said the accused forged the signature of the Assistant Commissioner (Migration Relief) Jammu to fraudulently obtain cash aid and other benefits meant for migrants.
He said the investigation was conducted thoroughly by a Deputy SP rank officer, and the charge sheet has now been submitted to the court for further legal proceedings.
SSP Crime Jammu, Benam Tosh, confirmed that the investigation of case FIR number 73/2016, under Sections 420, 511, 465, 466, 467, 468, 471, and 120-B RPC, has been completed and the challan has been filed.
