3 Burmese held in Jammu

JAMMU, Nov 22: Three illegal immigrants from Myanmar (Burma) were arrested here today.

Sources said that acting on specific tip off, Said-ul-Amin, son of Said Alam, Mukrama (18), daughter of Sohidullah, and Tasmeena Ara (19), daughter of Nazir Ahmed, all residents of Burma, were arrested by the intelligence agencies from Narwal area.
According to sources, the arrested individuals had been residing in Camp B08, Kutupalong, Cox’s Bazar District in Chittagong Division of Bangladesh before entering India illegally through an agent operating in Howrah district, West Bengal.
After their illegal entry into India, the group travelled by train to New Delhi, where a local tout facilitated their journey to Jammu by bus.
The tout, identified as Abdul Rahim, son of Mohammad Ali, from Sab Bazar, Burma, allegedly returned to the national capital after delivering the immigrants to a Rohingya leader in Jammu.
Sources revealed that the women were intended to be trafficked to Kashmir, while the man was destined to work as a labourer.
Abdul Rahim, who is notorious for his involvement in human trafficking, was previously linked to the trafficking of Burmese women in Jammu and Kashmir in 2022 and 2023, they said.
The arrested individuals are currently in the custody of the Trikuta Nagar Police Station, where they are being interrogated further.
