UDHAMPUR, Apr 20: Non Governmental Organization (NGO) “Jan Sangharsh” held a protest demonstration over dilapidated condition of Udhampur to Barmeen and Ghordi roads.
The people of village Barmeen, tehsil Ramnagar assembled under the leadership of Advocate Sanjeet Kumar Bavouria, president of “Jan Sangharsh” and raised slogans against the Government.
The protestors alleged that the Udhampur to Barmeen and Ghordi roads are in worst condition for the past over a decade and the Government is not paying any heed towards this.
Advocate Sanjeet Kumar disclosed that this road is being used by the inmates of over hundred villages.
Due to dilapidated condition of the roads, only few vehicles ply on these roads and the passengers have to board these vehicles without their wish, he added.
He disclosed that on February 6, 2005, 35 passengers had lost their lives in a tragic road accident from a damaged diversion and the same diversion is still not repaired which will cause another accident.
Kumar demanded double lane of Udhampur–Ghordi road.
Among others present were Roshan Singh, Isher Dass, Sunil Kumar, Nandi Ram, Krishan Singh, Darshana, Thakri Devi and Koushalya Devi.
