JAMMU, Apr 20: Police today rescued bovine animals and arrested a smuggler from two different places.
A police spokesman said that, police team from Trikuta Nagar police station laid a naka at Rajiv Nagar and intercepted a Tata Mobile bearing registration number JMUAS-6263.
During search, police recovered 5 bovine animals which were being illegally transported from Jammu to Udhampur, he said, adding that the driver of the said vehicle escaped from the spot.
A case under FIR number 79/14 under Section 188 RPC and 3/5 PCA Act has been registered at police station Trikuta Nagar and manhunt launched to nab the absconding bovine smuggler.
Meanwhile, police team from police post Sidhra laid a surprised naka at Tawi Bridge Sidhra and arrested a pedestrian who was carrying bovine animals from Tawi to Nagrota by road.
The accused has been identified as Mehandia of Poni Chack.
In this regard a case under FIR number 117/14 under Section 188 RPC and 3 PCA Act has been registered at police post Sidhra and investigation started.
