235 medical shops inspected, 300 samples collected

SRINAGAR, Apr 19: As many as 235 medical shops were inspected during the special drive conducted by the Department of Drug & Food Control Organisation in different districts of Kashmir division.
During the drive, licences of 60 medical shops have been suspended for violation of various provisions of D&C Act 1940 & Rules made there under. While 11 medical shops were put on the show cause notices.
The chemists during the special drive were directed to maintain sale cum purchase records of drugs, besides store drugs as per their requirement and supply drugs only on presentation of prescription besides they were asked to issue Cash Memo’s to the consumers.
Moreover, the department has also lifted 300 samples of various categories of drugs from Govt as well as private establishments, wholesalers and retailers for analysis to ascertain their quality.
