JAMMU, Apr 13: Police registered case of Culpable Homicide against a doctor following death of a young patient in private hospital at Bari Brahmana and subsequent protest by family members of the deceased, late this evening.
The deceased, identified as Manish Sharma (30) son of Karam Chand of Banihal, was admitted in Shri Om Hospital, Bari Brahmana where he was administered glucose by the doctor. He died soon after his admission in the hospital this evening.
However, family members and relatives of the deceased alleged that the youth died due to alleged negligence of doctor since he was not suffering from any serious ailment but de-hydration only.
Demanding stern action against the doctor, the protesting family members blocked the National Highway and disrupted vehicular movement on the road following which police rushed to the spot.
Taking cognizance of the matter, Bari Brahmana Police registered a case in this connection against Doctor Shobit under Section 304.
According to SHO Bari Brahmana, Inspector Shiv Dev Singh Jamwal, protesting family members lifted the protest dharna after registration of case against the doctor.
