DB directs State to file status report

JAMMU, Apr 4: In a Public Interest Litigation filed by RTI activist Balvinder Singh seeking disbanding of the mode and practice of depositing payments under all the Major Heads of public authorities to avoid undue benefit to the J&K Bank, Division Bench of High Court comprising Chief Justice MM Kumar and Justice Muzaffar Hussain Attar today issued notice to Chief Secretary, Principal Secretary Finance, Director General Accounts and Treasuries, Director General of Budgets and DG Resources and J&K Bank.
The PIL has been filed to unearth scandal of crores of rupees wherein some higher and senior officials of State being hand in glove with a private bank, have caused huge loss to the State exchequer and wrongful gain to some of the major shareholders, private persons, bank officials and other Government officials.
After hearing Senior Advocate Sunil Sethi with Advocate Deewakar Sharma for the PIL, Division Bench directed that status report along with memorandum of understanding be filed by the State respondents.
