3-day national seminar on ‘Importance of Research, Manuscripts’ inaugurated at JU

JAMMU Mar 28:  Prof. Mohan Paul Singh Ishar, Vice Chancellor, University of Jammu today inaugurated the three-day national seminar on the topic “Importance of Research and Manuscripts in Literature”. The seminar was jointly organized by National Mission for Manuscripts, Ministry of Culture and Tourism, Govt. of India and Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu and Department of Urdu, University of Jammu. The renowned literaturer of the State and former Dy. Chairman Legislative Council M Y Taing presided over the inaugural function while Prof. Khawaja Ekram,  Director National Council for Promotion of Urdu language, Ministry of HRD, Govt. of India  was the guest of honour on the occasion.
Prof Shohab Inayat Malik Director Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu and Director Kishtwar Campus along with HoD Urdu Prof. Sukhchain Singh also graced the presidium on the occasion. Near about 25 scholars within and outside the state are participating in the National seminar being organized at Prof. Gian Chand Jain seminar hall of the Urdu Department.
Speaking on the occasion the Prof. Ishar congratulated the organizers for organizing a national seminar on the theme which has a great importance and relevance in the literature. He said that papers which would be presented in the three-day seminar by resource persons would be preserved in a book form so that new generations could know more and more about the importance of manuscripts. Prof. Khawaja Ekram, Director National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language, Ministry of HRD, Government of India in his address informed that we can inform our new generations about the old traditions of our country through manuscripts. He further said that manuscripts were the only source to know the secrets of Indian civilization and culture and the most important link of continuity of Indian culture from Ancient India to Modern.
M Y Taing in his presidential address congratulated the National Mission for Manuscripts, Ministry for Culture and Tourism, Govt. Of India and Centre for Professional Studies in Urdu and Department of Urdu for organizing the seminar on an important topic.
