Motorcyclist held with over 100 pouches of illicit liquor

JAMMU, Mar 27: Keeping a tight vigil over smuggling of illicit liquor in the holy town Katra, police today arrested a motorcyclist along with large quantity of illicit liquor pouches from Nomain area of tehsil Katra.
As per police sources, on specific inputs about smuggling of illicit liquor in the holy town Katra, police team from Katra police station led by SP Katra Kulbir Singh laid a naka near Nomian area and intercepted a motorcycle bearing registration number JK02AM-6077.
During checking, 2 bags were found hanging on both sides of the motorcycle and when checked, 102 pouches of illicit liquor were recovered.
The bootlegger identified as Madan Lal alias Pinku, son of Shanker Dass of Arnas, district Reasi was arrested on the spot.
The accused was carrying the illicit liquor from Jhajjar Kotli to sell the same in the holy town Katra, but his nefarious designs were foiled by the Katra police.
A case under 188 RPC and 48-A Excise Act has been registered at Katra police station and investigation started.
