JAMMU, Mar 19: To provide adequate platform to budding performing artists, a 3-day music festival “Pholven Toer” was inaugurated here today at the Academy Complex, Lal Mandi.
The event has been organized by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages to encourage the young non-approved artists hailing from various parts of the Valley.
On the first day, in light music category, seven young artists performed including Umer Khan, Mohsin Dilshad, Syed Mubashir, Naseer Ahmad, Aqib Asad Yatoo, Noor-ul-Saba and Nargis Maqbool. The music was composed by Imtiyaz Malik in association with M. Younis Bhat, M. Maqbool and M. Nayeem. The audience was enthralled by sizzling performances by the young artists.
Gh. Nabi Khayal, who was chief guest, hoped that the artists who performed in the event will go a long way in their respective performing fields and win laurels. He congratulated the Academy and the young artists for organizing this memorable event. The same views were expressed by the guest of honour, Gh. Mohi-ud-din Aajiz.
Earlier, in his welcome address, Additional Secretary, Academy, Dr. Arvinder Singh Amn, presented a resume of the activities of the Academy and spoke about the initiatives to encourage the budding talent in the State.
On second day of the event, young performers will present Sufiyan Mosique and on 20th Kashmiri Folk shall be presented.
The proceedings of the function were conducted by Dr. Syed Iftikhar, while Chief Editor of the Academy, M. Ashraf Tak presented vote of thanks.
