JAMMU, Mar 9: BJP State president, and candidate for Jammu-Poonch Lok Sabha seat Jugal Kishore Sharma today demanded Supreme Court monitored CBI probe into the rupees 25 thousand crore Roshni Scam in the State.
Addressing a series of corner meetings at Khour, Tok Khaisa and Sunail Akhnoor today, Mr Sharma said when the Roshni scheme was introduced during the regime of Ghulam Nabi Azad –led Congress rule, the land under the illegal encroachment was 10 lakh kanals and after the implementation of the scheme, 10 lakh more kanals of land was looted by the ruling elite, land mafia and politicians close to the establishment.
He said the Ghulam Nabi Azad Government and the Government of Omar Abdullah have caused immense financial loss to the State exchequer by misusing official positions to benefit the vested interests.
He said the Supreme Court monitored CBI inquiry alone could bring Ghulam Nabi Azad and Omar Abdullah to Justice’’,.
He also lambasted the NC-Congress ruling coalition for its anti people and anti-democratic stand on Delimitation Commission and said it is this that has denied the people of Jammu province due representation in the Lok Sabha. To make his point he said that while Jammu returns two members to the Lok Sabha having 17.63 and 11.52 lakh electorate respectively, Kashmir returns three members to the Lok Sabha with 11.71, 11.52 and 12.72 lakh voters respectively.
Sharma said it is gross injustice with the people of Jammu province in the sense that Kashmir has three Lok Sabha seats for 35 lakh votes, Jammu province has two Lok Sabha seats for 32 lakh plus voters.
Commenting on situation in Akhnoor tehsil Jugal said that the Congress has converted it into its fiefdom with non Congress population at the receiving end at the hands of the Congress.
BJP vice president Col (retd) Uttam Singh, Kissan Morcha State president Karan Singh, BJYM State Prabhari, Yudhvir Sethi, S C leader Chaman Lal Kanathia, Suraj Singh, Daljit Singh and others accompanied Mr Sharma.
