NYCS volunteers call off hunger strike

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 7:  Protesting NYCS volunteers from Jammu and Kashmir called off their 19-day long hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, New Delhi, in the presence of DG NYK Saleem and Secretary Sports, Government of India, Rajiv Gupta.
These NYC volunteers were demanding a policy for them and regularization of their services.
Yesterday, these NYC volunteers were purportedly assured by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah to take up their genuine demands with Government of India after the Model Code of Conduct is lifted.
According to Asif Ali Bhat, State president of All Jammu and Kashmir NYCS, they would resume the protest if Government does not consider their demands.
