GKPD asks poll parties to include return of Pandits in its manifesto

NEW DELHI, Apr 5: Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) called on all political parties to make a commitment in their election manifesto on the return and restitution of Kashmiri Pandits.
The upcoming Parliamentary and J&K State elections presents a historic opportunity to fulfil Prime Minister Modiji’s vision of a just, pluralistic, tolerant and inclusive Kashmir. In this regard, the successful return of Kashmiri Pandits to the Valley is a litmus test for the integrity of India and its civilizational connect with Kashmir. Global Kashmiri Pandit Diaspora (GKPD) applauds the recent statements made on social media by members of Kashmir’s civil society endorsing our fundamental right to justice and safe return to our ancestral homeland, the GKPD in a handout issued here, today said.
Kashi Akhoon GKPD coordinator Nortern India said as the UT of Jammu and Kashmir continues on a path of unprecedented development and people’s participation, it is imperative that the Kashmiri Pandit community be empowered to return to their homeland as equal stakeholders. GKPD will be hosting a series of webinars starting April 15 onwards with a focus on engaging members of the civil society and political activists in Kashmir from all spheres of life in a meaningful dialogue with our community. The aim will be to explore return pathways and a resolution urging all political parties to pledge in their manifesto that they will create a secure and sustainable space for Kashmiri Pandits in the Valley. “We invite everyone to actively engage in this dialog process so that together our dream of returning to our home becomes a reality. GKPD will be sharing more information on programs in due course.”he added.
