JAMMU, Feb 20: In the last budget session of its tenure, the State Government today announced Club Class air travel to the J&K Legislators besides doubling their car and house loan limits as well as daily allowance for sitting in the House.
In his reply on discussion for Demand of Grants on his Departments, the Minister for Law and Parliamentary Affairs, Mir Saifullah announced to enhance the car loan and housing loan of Legislators from Rs 2.5 lakh to Rs 5 lakh thus enabling them to avail a loan of Rs 10 lakh.
Besides, he added, the Daily Allowance for the members is enhanced from Rs 500 to Rs 1000 per sitting while the Government has also decided to allow the Legislators to fly by Business/Club Class on international flights for official trips.
In response to a demand made by some members for housing plots to them in capital cities of the State, Mir Saifullah informed that the matter could be taken up with the Minister for Revenue. He also assured positive consideration for construction of new MLA Hostels.
Terming the demand for enhancement of pension and medical allowance of the Ex-Legislators as genuine, he appealed the Chief Minister and all Cabinet colleagues to consider the same.
Listing the measures taken to make the functioning of legislatures more vibrant, he said that official website of the Assembly secretariat was being launched very soon.
The Minister also informed that 12 Government Bills are likely to be taken up for consideration during the current session of the Assembly.
