POONCH, Nov 13: With the seizure of four vehicles, the police foiled bovines smuggling attempt of some people in Poonch area and rescued 18 milch animals last night.
Official sources said that on the directions of SSP Poonch Vinay Sharma, a team headed by SHO Poonch Deepak Pathania under the supervision of DySp Hqrs Poonch, Afrat Hussain was constituted against bovine smuggling. During checking Police Party intercepted four vehicles viz. Tata Mobile bearing Reg No JK12A/2511, driven by Saif Din, son of Qamir Din from Chandak in Tehsil Haveli; Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK12C/0701, driven by Javid Iqbal, son of Mohd Shafi from Chandak in Tehsil Haveli; Tata Mobile bearing reg. No. JK12/7511 driven by Mohd Farooq, son of Abdul Ghani from Sathara in Tehsil Mandi and Tata Mobile bearing registration No. JK12C/ 1158, driven by Farooq Ahmed, son of Mohd Rafiq from Chandak Tehsil Haveli at Kalai Naka.
On checking, it was found that 18 bovine animals loaded in Tata Mobiles with utmost cruelty in starvation, were being transporting to Kashmir from Poonch without any permission.
In this connection, four cases vide FIR Nos 192, 193, 194, 195 of 2023 U/S 188 IPC, 11 PCA Act were registered at Police Station Poonch against bovine smugglers and four vehicles were also seized. The investigation has been taken up in this connection.
