JAMMU, Jan 16: Minister of State for Home, Industries & Commerce and Tourism, Sajjad Ahmed Kichloo today said that the Government will take all possible measures to make atmosphere in the Valley congenial to ensure safe and dignified return of migrants to their homes and hearth, adding that no stone will be left un-turned to address their all genuine grievances and hardships.
He said all the necessary measures will be taken to built sense of confidence among migrants before they are properly rehabilitated in the valley so that they are able to live with their Muslim brothers.
Speaking to a delegation of J&K National Conference Minority Cell here this afternoon, Mr. Kichloo said Pandits are the part and parcel of rich culture and ethos of Kashmir, adding that conception of ” Kishmiryat” is incomplete without Kashmiri migrants in Kashmir valley known as the land of sufis and saints.
The delegation of migrants, which was comprising Ex.M.L.C, Bushan Lal Bhat, President of the J&K National Conference Minority Cell, M.K. Yogi and General Secretary, Karan Choudhary presented memorandum of demands and discussed their problems and demands one by one with the Minister to seek their redressal.
The main demands projected by the delegation included Political Empowerment of the Pandit Community by reserving two seats in the J&K State Legislature. They also sought to update the voter list of migrants, enhancement of cash relief upto Rs.10,000 and special recruitment drive for migrant youth in J&K Police. They also demanded for rehabilitation of sick industrial units of Kashmiri migrant industrialists and traders and implementation of the Prime Minister’s Package for return and rehabilitation of the migrants. They also demanded 5% reservation for the migrant youth in Central Govt. offices and construction of well established housing colonies for them at each district headquarter in Kashmir as envisaged in the Prime Minister’s Package besides free medical insurance for all migrants who were forced to leave Kashmir Valley in 1990.
Kichloo gave patient hearing and assured that all the commitments made by the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah for proper rehabilitation of the migrants would be fulfilled appropriately.
