JAMMU, Jan 9: Professor Saif- ud- Din Soz, Member Parliament called on N.N. Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhavan today.
Prof. Soz discussed with the Governor issues relating to governance and the political situation in the State.
Janak Raj Gupta, former Member Parliament also, called on Mr. Vohra and informed him about various issues of public interest, particularly problems relating to serious shortages of water and power supplies.
Kuldeep Khoda, Chief Vigilance Commissioner briefed the Governor about the to date status of the functioning of the Vigilance Commission, the steps taken for strengthening the institution of the Departmental Vigilance Officers and his assessment about the effectiveness of the Commission to reduce corruption and enhance good governance.
Mr. Khoda apprised the Governor about the difficult staffing situation in the Commission and the efforts being made to fill posts on fast track basis, the rules which have been finalized and the regulatory framework which has already been put in place.
