JAMMU, Oct 10: A number of Scientists working in J&K institutes of higher learning, have been listed in the latest ranking of Stanford University for the year 2023 and placed among the top 2 percent globally.
These include 11 Scientists from the University of Kashmir (KU) and three each from Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University and NIT Srinagar.
The Stanford University rankings, known for their rigorous evaluations considering factors such as research publications, citations and exceptional contributions to their respective fields, have underscored the remarkable achievements of these scientists from the region.
The KU Scientists, who have achieved this prestigious recognition, include Prof Farooq Ahmad Masoodi, Prof Shakil Ahmad Romshoo, Prof Manzoor Ahmad Shah, Prof Ghulam Jeelani, Dr Adil Gani, Dr Idrees Ahmed Wani, Dr Shabir Ahmad Parah, Dr Imtiaz Ahmed, Dr Sheikh Faheem, Dr Manzoor Ahmad Mir and Dr Firdous Ahmad Shah.
From SMVDU , Dr Vineet V Tyagi, Dean (R&D) and faculty in the School of Energy Management; Dr Bharat Bhushan Jindal, Associate Dean (Academics) and faculty in the School of Civil Engineering and Dr Mir Irfan Ul Haq, faculty in the School of Mechanical Engineering, figure in the list of top 2 percent worldwide Scientists, published by Elsevier Database and Stanford University.
Three faculty members of NIT Srinagar, who have secured their place among the world’s top 2 percent Scientists, include Dr Vijay Kumar from the Physics Department, Dr Neeraj Gupta from the Electrical Engineering Department and Dr Prvan Kumar Katiyar from the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department.
