KISHTWAR, Oct 4: Police here today arrested a notorious narcotic smuggler from Chatroo and seized cannabis like substance from him.
Sources informed that on a specific tip, a special Naka was established under the supervision of Dy.SP DAR, Sajjad Khan near Gujjarpul Petrol Pump in Chatroo area which was led by SHO Police Station Chatroo, Inspector Sandeep Parihar and Sub-Inspector Mohd Shafi along with other cops.
During checking of vehicles and pedestrians, the Naka team noticed suspicious movement of a motorcyclist who attempted to evade checking but the cops chased and apprehended him.
Upon his search, Charas was recovered and he was arrested while his motorcycle bearing registration number JK02BH-4982 was seized.
The arrested narcotic smuggler has been identified as Mohd Rafiq, son of Mohd Qasim, resident of Udail Chatroo.
In this regard a case in FIR No. 81/2023 U/S 8/20 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Chatroo and investigation started.
SSP Kishtwar, Khalil Poswal has urged upon the general public to come forward with any information regarding narcotic consumption/trafficking in their neighbourhood to help police.
