Cong welcomes decision to contest elections alone

JAMMU, Dec 31: The top Congress leadership in the State has welcomed the decision to contest next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections at its own.
In a joint press statement issued here today, former Dy Chief Minister Mangat Ram Sharma, senior Congress leaders G M Saroori (MLA), Ashok Kumar MLA Ramban, former Chairman Handicrafts and MLA Haji Abdul Rashid, MLC Jugal Kishore Sharma, Jahangir Mir, Naresh Gupta, Subash Gupta, Ex-ministers Mula Ram, Haji Nissar Ali, Dr Romesh Chander Sharma, Ch Gharu Ram,Yogesh Sawhney, Ghulam Raza, Ex-MLC Mohd Amin Bhat, Ali Mohd Bhat, R S Pathania YC leader, Vinod Sharma, Brij Mohan Sharma and others welcomed the decision of Union Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad and PCC president Saifuddin Soz, who while addressing public at Shangas in Kashmir declared that Congress would go for elections alone. They termed it as right decision taken by the leadership. They said that the Congress Party cadre and the people in general are not happy with the National Conference. They said Congress should contest at its own in the next Lok Sabha and Assembly elections and it was right decision. The party workers in J&K have already given their mind in several meetings.
They pointed out that Congress if contests elections at its own, would win maximum seats because people are happy with the performance of the party. They have been befooled on Autonomy and Self rule by both the regional parties. There should not be pre-poll alliance and the Congress cadre in J&K is happy with this decision, they added.
