KATHUA, Dec 30: Kathua and Samba police has seized 18 bovine animals during three separate nakas laid at different places in Lakhanpur, Kathua and Samba area today.
According to police seven bovine animals were rescued by Lakhanpur police after it intercepted a truck bearing number JK0AG5337 in the early morning at Magarhad on the bank of river Rawi. They were coming from Punjab to J&K. However the driver and other inmates of the truck fled in the cover of fog. But the truck was seized by the Police and animals were rescued. The naka was laid under the supervision of SHO Lakhanpur, K D Bhagat.
The Kathua police also seized seven bovine animals at village Bhagat Ali on the bank of river Ravi which were also being smuggled by some bovine smugglers to Kashmir. They were coming on foot. However seeing the police the smugglers fled leaving the animals behind. The naka was laid under the supervision of SHO Kathua S D Singh. Both Kathua and Lakhanpur police stations have registered cases under RPC 188.
Meanwhile, in its continuous drive against the illegal trafficking of bovine animals, Ghagwal Police has rescued four bovine animals. According to Police a team headed by Inspector Anu Sharma, SHO P/S Ghagwal under the supervision of Anil Magotra, SP Samba and Munish Anand, DySP HQ Samba, during Naka Checking at Jatwal intercepted a Mahindra Load Carrier bearing registration No. JK08C-8933. The vehicle was carrying four bovine animals to Kashmir Valley . On seeing the police party, the driver fled away leaving the vehicle on spot.
Accordingly, the vehicle was seized and case FIR No. 110/2013 u/s 188 RPC, 2/3 cruelty towards Animals Act, 184 M.V Act was registered at P/S Ghagwal and investigation carried on. Efforts are being made to on to nab the absconding accused driver.
