Emergency ambulance services

The matter of providing the Directorate of Health Services with 25 fabricated ambulances for emergency services along the Jammu-Srinagar Highway had run into some complicacy, which necessitated withdrawal of the tenders previously grabbed by a Himachal Pradesh company. We are told that the issue has been sorted out and fresh notice for tenders with reduced time for response is on the anvil. Already two years have been wasted in sorting out formalities of the case. These are emergency ambulances and imagine how much has been the loss to have delayed their procurement for two long years. Why does every matter get entangled in controversies and complicacies is difficult to understand. One would like to ask whether or not special instructions were given to the previous contractor to fabricate the vehicles incorporating all the specifications under National Ambulance Code by the Government of India for international level services in the tenders for Critical Care Ambulances. It is now that the National Ambulance Code has come for interplay. We welcome the decision of the authorities of ordering pre-fabrication of these emergency ambulances to international code and hope that this specification will not be compromised and the entire process repeated. Keeping in mind the terrain and the climate of the region of operation of these ambulances, these special specifications would be very useful.
