SAMBA/RAJOURI, Dec 24: Residents of Samba town held protest demonstration against PDD authorities and blocked National Highway for about an hour this evening while locals from Rajouri also disrupted movement of traffic while lodging their protest against the Electric Department this evening.
Reports said the residents of Ward No. 2, 3 and 8 came out on the road and took out protest march against PDD. They alleged that a transformer which went out of order three days back was not repaired or replaced by PDD authorities. Entire area has plunged under darkness and people are left to suffer during these cold winters days. They raised barricades and blocked National Highway at main chowk and disrupted movement of traffic for about any hour. Later, on the assurance of Tehsildar, they lifted dharna and allowed traffic.
In Rajouri town also the people held protest demonstration against PDD at Abdullah bridge and disrupted movement of traffic for some time. They were shouting slogans against the PDD authorities for long power curtailment. Later, on the assurance of Additional DC they lifted dharna.
