JAMMU, Aug 4: Senior BJP leader and former Minister, Bali Bhagat, raised serious concern over Dr. Farooq Abdullah’s involvement in a delegation comprising 31 MPs that met with the President of India to discuss the present situation in Manipur and Haryana.
He termed Dr. Abdullah as the “most dramatic person in the country” and raised questions about his inaction during the Kashmir unrest in 1989.
Bhagat pointedly asked Dr. Farooq Abdullah about the 1989 incidents when Kashmir witnessed turmoil, leading to the forced exodus of approximately four lakh Kashmiri Hindus from their homes. He questioned whether Dr. Abdullah approached the President of India at that time with the support of 31 MPs to address the severe issue.
The senior BJP leader further accused Dr. Farooq Abdullah of being solely responsible for the death of 43,000 Kashmiris in last 70 years in J&K, and referred to his actions as “the most communal act in the history of India.” He expressed disappointment that Dr. Abdullah continues to engage in dramatic acts for political gain even at this age.
Bhagat urged Dr. Farooq Abdullah to apologize specifically to the Kashmiri Hindus and, more broadly, to the nation for the alleged heinous acts committed 34 years ago. He emphasized that advocating for others should follow genuine remorse and responsibility for past actions.
The former Minister demanded the Central Government to conduct an inquiry into the events of 1989 and hold the guilty person accountable. He asserted that there is dire need to address past grievances and work together towards a peaceful and inclusive future for all citizens, he added.
