KPs pay glowing tribute to Chatta on 9th death anniversary

JAMMU, June 17: Glowing tribute were paid to former president All State Kashmiri Pandit Conference (ASKPC) and an RSS ideologue, Hira Lal Chatta at his ninth death anniversary at a function organsied by Amar Balidan Trust at K P Sabha here, today.
Former Chief Secretary, and Ex MLC, Vijay Bakaya was the chief guest on the occasion who while recalling the service of Chatta to community said he had developed personnel relation with late leader after seeing him working round the clock with administration for settlement of displaced people in tents and Government accommodations in 1990.
Bakaya stressed on collecting source material on the contribution of community leaders who played heroic role for it throughout their lives. He also cautioned the community against the self styled activists who are trying to defame the community.
Stressing on having a pragmatic approach as Chatta and other senior leaders had on settling the issues, Bakaya said Pandits will themselves frame the road map on their return. He said the GoI also wants to resettle the community back in Valley but it is the community which has to decide on what terms and conditions it will return.
Former MLC and BJP spokesperson, Ajay Bharti said Chatta was a daredevil who had started RSS Shakas in open ground in Baramulla. He was man of masses who took entire society with him while recalling his role in anti KP riots of 1986 and mass exodus of community in 1989.
KP Sabha president, K K Khosa while recalling his association with Chatta said that “We can’t have any alternative to him”.
He said situation has changed a lot in Kashmir and two issues are important for Pandits at present one is the community’s dignified return and other is saving its cultural and religious identity.
M L Malla a senior KP leader stressed on revival of ASKPC. He said community should not lose heart and take an initiative for the betterment. He said Kashmiri Pandits have centuries old Sanatan history and we have to revive it which can only be done via Sheetalnath.
Swami Kumar Ji, Prof B L Zuthsi, Shiban Kybri, Prof Rawal, BJP leaders H L Bhat and Chand Ji Bhat, A K Braroo, B K Sanyasi, M K Yogi, B B Gosani, Ashok Dhar, Virender Raina, Dr T K Bhat, Subash Chatta proposed vote of thanks and S K Bhat conducted the proceedings.
Another function was organised by ASKPC at its Bhawan Durga Nagar in which its president R K Wangnoo paid floral tributes to Chatta. Kashmiri Pandit Conference president Kundan Kashmiri while addressing a tribute giving function at Delhi said Chatta was a great personality and who was round the clock available for service to community and nation.
