Mansoor Ahmad sworn-in as HP High Court Judge

SHIMLA, Nov 27:  Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir was sworn-in as Judge of the Himachal Pradesh High Court here today.

Governor Urmila Singh administered the oath of office to the new Judge in a simple but impressive ceremony held at Raj Bhawan.

Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh was also present on the occasion.

Officiating Chief Secretary P Mitra had conducted the proceedings and read out the warrant of appointment.

According to the notification, Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir would perform the duties of the office of Chief Justice of H P High Court from the date he assumed the charge of his office.

Born on April 25, 1955, at Rajpora village in  Pulwama district of Jammu and Kashmir, Mr Mir did his LLB in 1978 and joined Higher Judicial Services in 1992.

He was sworn in as additional judge of J & K High Court on January 31, 2005 and appointed as Permanent Judge of of the same Court on July 7, 2007.

Cabinet Ministers, Opposition leader in Vidhan Sabha Prof Prem Kumar Dhumal, MLAs, Judges of High Court, Chief Information Commissioner Bhimsen, state Director General of Police Sanjay Kumar, Members of Bar Council and Senior officers of the state were present on the occasion.
