One killed, 18 injured as Load Carrier carrying ‘baratis’ overturned

JAMMU, Dec 1: A minor boy was killed while 18 persons of a marriage party were injured when a Load Carrier carrying them overturned at Surinsar, under the jurisdiction of Police Post Manwal.
According to the reports, a Mahindra Load Carrier (bearing Registration Number JK02CD-5148) packed with ‘Baratis’ was on its way to a marriage party in the outskirts of Surinsar area while negotiating a sharp turn, the driver lost control over the speeding vehicle and it overturned on the road near Surinsar.
In the mishap which occurred today at about 2:45 PM, 19 ‘baratis’ travelling in the vehicle got injured. On getting information of the mishap, Manwal Police swung into action and immediately rushed all the injured persons to Government Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), Jammu for medical treatment.
However, one of the injured persons identified as a 16-year-old boy namely Saleem son of Basharat, resident of Surinsar, was declared as brought dead by the doctors in GMCH Jammu. The body of the deceased was sent for postmortem while a case in this connection was registered at Police Station Jhajjar Kotli and further investigation started.
Other persons injured in the mishap were identified as Shafeel Hussain (38) son of Mohd Khalil, Liyaqat (30) son of Mohd Doular, Irfan (15) son of Mohd Hajim, Mohd Farooq (40) son of Mohd Ayoub, Mohd Azeem (65), Musharaf Hussain (12) son of Mohd Raqib, Waqar Younis (24) son of Mohd Azeem, Javed (30) son of Mohd Iqbal, Mudasar Hussain (9), Abdul Rehman (50) son of Javid, Manzoor Ahmed (40) son of Haji Noor, Mohd Farooq (50) son of Mohd Zaid, Parvez Ahmed (12) son of Mohd Tahir, Liyaqat Ali (32) son of Mohd Muslim, Om Prakash (45) son of Parshu Ram, Mohd Tahir (30) son of Mohd Zaid, Asif (15) son of Mohd Sadiq and Riyaz Ahmed (22), all residents of Surinsar.
