JAMMU, Nov 11: J&K State Pollution Control Board (PCB) here today organised Pollution Control Awareness Programme at Transport Nagar Narwal in association with Motor Parts Dealers Association (MPDA).
Rajinder Parshad Kakkar, president MPDA Jammu delivered welcome address and said that air pollution has gone above the danger level in Transport Nagar.
Arshad Malik, Divisional Officer South PCB Jammu presented the future action of PCB to deals with the problem of pollution.
He asked all the stakeholders at transport Nagar like transporters, mechanics, scrap dealers, tyre re-treaders and automobile dealers to stop burning their daily wastes and avoid single use plastic in future so that air pollution can be brought down in Transport Nagar.
Malik sought cooperation of Transport Nagar community in bringing down the pollution levels.
Anuradha, Senior Scientist at PCB Jammu also addressed the gathering and said that every stakeholder should stop single use plastic in daily routine and also encourage the common people to avoid burning of wastes.
She said that people should not throw waste in open and informed that in coming days the PCB will penalise the violators under law.
At the end of the programme PCB distributed cloth bags to the gathering.
Vice President MPDA Transport Nagar, Narwal, S. Jaswinder Singh presented vote of thanks.
S. Harpreet Singh, Mohan Singh Bhati, Romesh Kumar, S. Mangal Singh and S. Parvinder Singh were also present in the programme.
